Saturday Night At Alonia

Last night was the first live music night of the season at the restaurant (also Eleni's first live music experience...she seemed thoroughly excited about the whole event which of course made her father beam with pride). Our good friends Yorgos and Vasilis are back from Thessaloniki to entertain us for the summer.

Here are a few pictures and video from the night

Dinner with Johanna and Torsten

Laughing hysterically = blurry photos

Vangelis found a boat...so naturally he strapped it to his quad and took it for a ride...
What does this have to do with Greek music and food you ask?
Absolutely nothing!
But it was one of those random moments that you just can't let pass you by. Literally. He was driving by and we made him stop so we could all take pictures of him. You can't see it but there is actually a bus full of people waiting behind me trying to get to the airport. It's all good, I got my picture and they got their flight on time. I think. I mean, I didn't hear about a bus load of British people missing their flight so I'm sure it was fine...

Yet another blurry picture but anyway, this is Yorgos and Vasilis the musicians

The usual locals: Thermis and The-Guy-Whose-Name-I-Can-Never-Remember-But-He-Rocks-A-Pretty- Substantial-Mustache, Stratis and his wife, Kostas and Sakis, and really nice guy who's actually a tourist but he's here every night so we'll upgrade him to local status

The Birthday Boy!
Alexandros turned 2 yesterday so he brought his parents for dinner to celebrate

Birthday cake!
We learned how to blow out birthday candles...which of course became even more interesting than the cake so we re-lit the candle about 10 times so we could keep practicing.

Baba, you have to light it again! Just one more time!
So he did.
And then it was finally time to eat the cake

This is my favourite Greek song but for some reason I thought it was a great idea to talk through the entire thing and ruin it. WHY??? I don't get out much these days. Anyway, here's a link to listen to the whole song by Malamas, not our guys but still fantastic. If you're interested of course.
It's called Prigkipesa which means Princess

I had another video of the guys doing another one of my favourite songs but sadly, in my over tired state I somehow managed to delete that video. So sad. So so sad. That means my entire mission last night was a failure because I wanted to show you what great musicians we have at the restaurant. But instead I acted like a dumbass and talked through every video AND the one video that was a success...I accidentally deleted.
Oh well.
I'll just have to do this again next week.

Kalinikta!
